HOME OF THE MIGHTY ROOS!
Please help us in congratulating the following people, as they have been individually selected to attend the Riddell District Football Netball Bowen & Ryan medal awards for 2019
Everyone at the club are so proud of these players, they have represented BFNC well this year and we are so proud that they are being recognised for it.
Well done, good luck & go roos!
A very successful night at League level with all players invited coming in within the top 10 of their age group. Super effort.
A big congratulations to Zoe Cannizzo under 13s Netball R/U Best & Fairest
Ty-Reece Morgan who has won the U16 Football Best & Fairest.
Congratulations to the President and 16s coach Alwin Neilson for winning Youth Coach of the year. Fantastic Alwin and very well deserved
A huge congratulations to another 200 gamer for the BFNC our beautiful netball coordinator/player/coach/super mum Naomi Slade!
Recovering from an ACL injury Naomi has made it back on court just in time for a season finale 200th game! Naysie is absolutely one of a kind and is adored by all. Her persistence and dedication to her rehab to get back on court for 2019 is inspirational and we all wish her the best of luck tomorrow! You deserve it!
We are beyond grateful to Naomi for her years of hard work and loyalty. She has helped shape the BFNC to what it is today. How lucky we are to welcome her as a life member with many years to come!
The BFNC travelled by bus today, united as one club with a joint vision to support the TAC’s Towards Zero campaign. It is more than just a number and we must all stand together and encourage safe road user behaviour and put a stop to the growing road toll and number of serious injuries on our roads! #morethanjustanumber
Congratulations to Jaimie Hooper who will be playing her 150th game for BFNC on Saturday!! What an amazing achievement and a massive milestone JJ has reached.
“I am personally excited to be congratulating my sister Jaimie Hooper, who will play her 150th senior netball game tomorrow! Woohoo! It is an amazing achievement, especially after a few breaks in service to give me an adorable/gremlin of a niece and nephew, and whilst also performing such a critical profession in our community. Your dedication to your family, self and our club in your current capacity as Junior Vice-President and Canteen Manager, and also all your dedicated service over many years as a coach, premiership player, netball coordinator and general mentor, has been outstanding!!! I am very proud. I have also been lucky to play alongside you over the years, although mainly when you were back as a defender as we could NEVER play together in goals! We would always get in each other’s way despite us being able to read each other’s mind and finish each other’s sentences – go figure! Enjoy the occasion, and I look forward to the day you play your 200th game!
Little does everyone know the insane amount of work you have done for the club this year too and over the past few years while raising a young family and doing shift work. I am committed in making it my priority that despite you being my sister, that your dedication is acknowledged and celebrated. You go above and beyond every single day for the club, and the way you balance and achieve everything you set out to do is admirable."
- President Bonnie Cavanagh & older sister.
Last round of the season and our teams have done us proud. Week in week out each and every player has found another level of improvement to be very proud of. A huge welldone to our 10s and 12s on a super season. Congratulations to our 14s and 16s footballers who now head to finals. You have worked so hard on getting to next week and the club is so so proud of you. A big day at netball with 15s needing to win to seal a spot in finals today. After such a huge commitment and journey by the club over the last couple of seasons we are proud to say that all 3 of our netball teams compete next week in finals. Well done to the committee, coaches, parents and officials in helping to grow and develop our youth. It will be a sea of Blue and white across both finals venues in the coming week. Congratulations everyone on a fantastic season. We wish all teams the very best of luck.
On Saturday night we inducted our newest club legends into the BFNC Hall of Fame!
Congratulations to Len Redenbach, John ‘Jika’ Spargo and the late Ray Ross (legend status)!
We appreciate each and everyone of these men as they have contributed so much to the club and community over numerous decades.
Please help us in congratulating Erica Lee on her 200th game. This is an amazing achievment from Erica so, we have put together a short video of some of the people who have been with her throughout her journey. Erica is such a role model for everyone at the club and we are so lucky to have such an inspiring, funny, talented, selfless person at our club. Welcome to the Life Member club of BFNC.
Congratulations Rica, we hope you enjoy your day!
Love, your BFNC family.
Congrats to our A-Grade Star, Jacqui Warriner, for making the 2019 AFL Goldfields Gold Coast training development squad! Everyone at the club is so proud of you and hope your enjoy your time. Represent BFNC well, like you always do. 💪🏼💓 #legend
Another milestone this week with Brandon Thomas's 50th game for our club!
Brandon started his blue and white journey 6 years ago playing in our under 18’s side and has remained loyal, playing every year since.
Last year, BT won second best and fairest in his team . Brandon’s love for the club is evident, attending (and loving) the club functions and the culture we are creating here at BFNC.
If customers can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Clearly list and describe the services you offer. Also, Congratulations to Sarah Heers for reaching a milestone of 150 games at BFNC. Here are some comments from some people who have been with Sarah throughout parts of her journey:
“Sarah started playing for BFNC when she was 15. She went missing for a few years after following Jai to go play for North Heidelberg but remained loyal to the Club by coming down to support the teams on a Saturday when she could.
Sarah has been named Captain on numerous occasions after being voted in. It shows that her team mates respect her knowledge and leadership on the court.
Off the court Sarah has taken on roles within the general committee and on the executive committee as treasurer. No one dare cross Sarah when it comes to finances - she knows her stuff. In fact no one dare cross Sarah on or off the court in general - she’s a fierce one! Sarah loves the Club just as much as she loves an after party.
Last night BFNC hosted over 50 kids in chilly conditions with various Auskick activities.
We had our senior coach, Jamie Kelly, along with many of our senior footballers helping run the football circuits as well as engaging with the kids.
After the session was over, our President Bonnie was cooking up a storm on the BBQ for all the kids and parents to enjoy, whilst watching our senior boys train.
It was amazing to see so many families last night and can we just add in how cute these kids are?!
Thanks to all involved and a special shout out to AusKick Coordinator and BFNC footballer Ash Wood, who has undergone surgery today on his injured shoulder. We wish him a speedy recovery!
Thanks to Northern Star for the dinner provided later that night for all the footballers and netballers. We are on our way to building a big sporting community and we look forward to our next events where the juniors will join us too!
This is Stillsy’s first year here at BFNC, and he put his hand up to run our bar at our home games and every function. Day or night, Stillsy is there with a smile on his face, serving our happy customers.
Stillsy makes our days and nights run that much smoother with his help. We are so grateful for you and appreciate your work.
Be sure to say hello to Stillsy next time you see him, he’s always up for a chat
Give it up for our amazing contestants! ⛄️
Melton Centrals took on Broadford Kangaroos in what was a massive game for both football and netball. Both clubs came together to raise money and awareness for the foundation 'Fight MND'
It’s nearing a week since our big FREEZE MND day at the club and we, along with
Melton Central Football & Netball Club are proud to share that we raised:
*with donations still rolling in*
An amazing effort and thank you for the donations. We hope that one day there is a cure for MND!
We at the Broadford Football Netball Club aim to support, connect and value all our amazing players, support staff, sponsors, members and life members. This includes connecting our youngest stars in community - our Auskick legends! Thanks for supporting our Indigenous Round! Special thanks to the volunteers who help get these youngsters organised and up playing, especially for yesterday when coordinator Ash Wood was injured during his own football game prior to the Auskick! We wish him a speedy recovery!
A huge thank you to Uncle Shane Monk (Taungurung) for helping us celebrate and embrace Sir Doug Nicholls Round!
Young fellas Jirraky and Corbin were fantastic in running out with the boys, including Jirraky performing the coin toss for the Seniors!
Fantastic support shown by ALL, including our Mayor, MP Jaclyn Symes, Mitchell Shire Councillors and Community Managers, Golf Club representatives, Tennis Club President and Vice, the OKR fm team, North Central Review GM and Editor, RDFNL President and board members, HHR Committee of Management, sponsors, supporters and life members.
Our celebrations for the Indigenous round made the paper. Check out what Bonnie had to say below:
This week we are thanking the guys at the front gate. These guys volunteer their time every home game, collecting money from incoming people. Even in the middle of winter, these blokes will greet you with a smile every time.
Bob has been apart of the BFNC family since 2000, and his daughter Naomi is one of the netball coordinators this year.
Peter joined the family 5 years ago, volunteering his time to help us out!
Thanks for being such a great help here at the club, all of us here at BFNC appreciate what you do
(Also Dave, Barry and Splat, not pictured)
This year, Pauline has taken on the role as Team Manager for our A and B grade netball teams. Pauline has dedicated her time to the club for 2 years now. Her first year was being an amazing side line mum to not only her daughter Ally, but to the rest of the girls as well!
Paulza also played for Broadford when she was 17! How crazy that our club has a massive family culture. Her daughter Ally, is one of our young guns and she started playing at Broadford when she was 11. We love having Pauline around the club, she brings a smile to almost everyone. Thanks for all your support thus far!
Young local star Riley Mason has been selected to play for the Calder Cannons in season 2019, committing to the Broadford Football Netball Club as his home team when not on duty.
Congratulations Riley! We are excited to have you on board and wish you the best of luck as you strive for AFL greatness.

Congratulations to the Broadford Cricket Club on an outstanding 2018/19 season and a BIG thank you for the smooth handover for our upcoming season!
What’s exciting is that BCC President Lee has solidified his commitment in continuing to strengthen relations between the BCC & BFNC, and we so look forward to working together as aim to value, connect and support all our sporting and social families within the community.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Aaron 'Skip' Bray has unfortunately had to resign from the role of president of BFNC for season 2019.
However the Broadford Football Netball Club is pleased to announce the replacement President for season 2019, Bonnie Cavanagh.
Bonnie has previously been an integral part of the club as both player and volunteer for more than 14 years, ticking over 200 netball games with 170 of them senior, and having both best and fairest and premiership success. Prior to taking a break from the club due to work commitments, Bonnie fulfilled a number of roles for many years such as club secretary, function manager, netball coach and netball co-ordinator, and is excited for this new challenge of taking on the Presidency role in a crucial time for the club.
