HOME OF THE MIGHTY ROOS!
A huge improvement from last year securing 4 wins our young A Grade team was able to remain competitive all year. Their ladder position not reflective of their seasons performance we are excited for what’s to come. Our local youngsters found momentum in the middle of the home and away season getting their first win in two years at round 7 against Lancefield. The dynamic duo of Michelle Williamsand and Amanda Rothwell-Hiscock gave their team plenty of ball with plenty of high flying intercepts. With plenty of speed to burn in the micourt Jacqueline Warriner, Carina Mills and Ally Black made it their goal to transition quickly which became a team strength continuing to impress every week. New to the position Toni Bootland stood tall back in GS, teaming with experienced goaler Kate Berger. The pair continued to grow their connection over the season coming up with some great plays and sharp shooting.
B grade got off to a firing start of the season, only going down to Wallan by 9 points. Their first win came when in round 6 V Riddells Creek in a thrilling game.
At one end, standing tall and an anchor for the b grade girls was co- captain Renee Sari, who had Jaimie and Alyssah Chibnall running rings in front of her, shooting the goals for b grade. Later in the season we welcomed Richa Waititi into our attack line, who often played multiple positions in one game.
Through the mid court we had April Maunder, our quiet but deadly WD/C getting many intercepts in every game. Hayley White stood up this year coming from C grade and drove the mid court with her relentless endurance and speed. Jenny Neilson sitting in WA/C was the powerhouse of b grade, she can run, jump, intercept forever! Co-captain Megan Louise Berger played a well structured defensive game partnered with Jordyn Donovan in GK. Jordyn was their pillar in the defence end, always getting re bounds and intercepts, sending the ball back for the girls to score.
The girls grew as a team as the season went on, and found that many changes through the court meant they could rely on each other in whatever position.
B grade, coached by Ash Chapman, ended the season 9th on the ladder with 5 wins under their belt. Well done, we hope to see you all next year!
An exciting season saw this playing group welcome back some old faces. From new mums to returning injuries, co-coaches Renee Sari and Naomi Slade were spoilt for choice.
Winning 9 games and finishing in the top half of the ladder they are the only senior team to make finals this year we’re tipping a win from this experienced team.
Sisters Ebony and Erica Heers are exciting to watch with their hard one on one defence, consistently winning ball for their team.
In the middle Kirbie Theuma, Sarah Durnford, Carley Kelly, Sarah Heers and Ashlee Ludeman had plenty of movement and connected well. Our veteran midcourters, their endurance often steamrolled the opposition.
Goalers Naomi Slade, Bec Hunter, Rachel Scully, Paris Duncan (not pictured) and Brylie MacPherson had good short play, often utilising the goaler to goaler pass scoring high percentage for their team.
What a year it has been for the Joeys of our club. Being the only u/19’s team BFNC fielded this year, our girls had a point to prove and a job to be done. Being the future of our club, the Joeys started off a bit rocky, but got their first win in round 4 V Diggers Rest, by one goal!
The defence end consisted of Aliza, Rhiannon, Gen and Jordy, who were able to create opportunities for their team to score. Throughout the middle, Bree, Brylee and Ally were the powerhouses of the team, running their little hearts out every week. Abi, Toni and Ebony were our sharp shooters, rewarding their teams hard work.
Our joeys team were so versatile that Coach Ashley Chapman was able to make changes when needed, whether that be bringing Ally into defence or Gen into the mid court, everyone was capable of playing their role within their team.
Our Joeys also had the opportunity to play within the senior teams, which was a great experience for them.
Led by Co-Captians Bree & Brylee, the U/19’s had wins over; Diggers Rest, Riddells Creek, Romsey & Melton Centrals totalling 6 wins for the year, securing 5th spot on the ladder & a place in finals.
